Denise H. Lloyd, CIC, Founder & President
Ms. Lloyd is the Founder & President of D.H. Lloyd & Associates, Inc. which she founded in 1985.
Experience In 1975, Ms. Lloyd began her insurance career at Liberty Mutual Insurance
Company as a Commercial Claims Adjuster. Her experience on the carrier side ranged from Commercial Claims Adjuster, Commercial Underwriting to Regional Management. The regional office she managed had in excess of 500 employees, and handled Commercial
Underwriting for the eight Northeastern states. In 1985, Ms. Lloyd founded D.H. Lloyd & Associates, Inc. (DHL), a District of Columbia minority certified insurance agency. DHL is currently one of the largest minority insurance agencies on the East Coast, ranking in the top 10 nationwide with licenses in 47 states. The company has corporate offices in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD. In addition, DHL is the only minority firm in the country to have insured four major airports: National and Dulles Airports in the Washington, DC area, Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport, Georgia, and Baltimore Washington International Airport, Maryland, but more importantly, the only one to single-handedly provide coverage for a national political campaign, namely The Democratic National Primary Campaign.
More recently D.H. Lloyd & Associates has been successful in placing coverage for The Washington Convention Center t/a Events DC, George Washington University, The District of Columbia Public Schools, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino Construction Risk and the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Through claims and environmental claims, Ms. Lloyd was the first Minority-Owned Prime Contractor for the United States Coast Guard who settled environmental claims regarding oil spills in all U.S. Navigable Waters, under
OPA Act from 1995 – 2000. Ms. Lloyd holds a B.S. from Queens College in New York. She has a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, and is currently studying for her ARM designation. She has sat on the board of Alliance, Inc. which offers the CIC, CISR, & CRM designations nationwide. Ms. Lloyd is the past Chair of National Minority Business Coalition, a past Chair for the YMCA for MD, DC, & VA, and past President of DC Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of the Class of 1994 of Leadership Washington.
